Pollen Season Sucks!!!
That wonderful time of year has arrived. The cold is dwindling away. Lots of sunshine in the afternoon. But oh what is that nasty green stuff everywhere. Ugh, the dreaded pollen is here. As car guys, we definitely dread this time of year. You spend the afternoon washing your baby and in minutes, its covered in green….again!
With pollen season in full swing here, I though it important to give a few tips about what not to do to your vehicles finish during pollen season:
1. Never ever rinse your car off with water and allow to air dry. While it may seem super easy just to rinse off the pollen, you are asking for water spots, even if your vehicle is ceramic coated or has a fresh coat of sealant on it.
2. Avoid using waterless wash or detail spray with a microfiber towel to remove pollen. Once enough pollen is built up on one side of your microfiber towel, it creates a line of abrasive. This can then scratch your vehicles paint and soft plastics.
3. If you have a California Duster….throw it away!!!! A California Duster is not safe to remove dust or pollen off your vehicles finish…ever.
I often talk about rinse less washing and how it is the safest eco-friendly wash method. But even this method has a hard line that you have to draw where it can be unsafe to perform as well.
In summary, if you do not have time to properly wash and dry your vehicle using the two bucket wash method, leave your finish alone. Yes, it will be green again shortly after. But this is the safest way to properly clean the exterior of your vehicle. And remember, the pollen will soon pass. Please contact us to get your car clean today. Happy spring!!!!
