The headlight restoration process begins with a thorough cleaning of the surface to remove any superficial dirt and grime. The next crucial step involves sanding the lens to remove the oxidation layer. This is a meticulous process, starting with a coarser 2000 grit sandpaper for the initial heavy lifting of the oxidation layer, followed by progressively finer grits – 3000 for intermediate and 5000 for final smoothing – ensuring a perfectly resurfaced lens.

After sanding, the lens looks uniformly smoother but not quite brand new. The next phase of headlight restoration is crucial: compounding and polishing the lens.
